Hunting Moose with Alaska Big Game Safaris
The area that we guide for Moose is in the foothills of the Alaska Range’s north side, overlooking the vast flats of the Tanana valley. It is in a non motorized “Controlled Use” area. Only bulls with antlers of either a 50-inch spread or antlers with 4 or more brow tines on at least one side are legal to harvest.
Moose numbers are stable and there are good chances of having the opportunity to take a monster bull in the 60-inch or better range.
We’ll be accessing the area by means of a Super cub aircraft, using remote airstrips or ridge tops. Sometimes depending on the “Rut” you can get them to come in closer by raking brush or using a grunt call. It is really something seeing those bulls getting all riled up.
Hiking on the tundra of Alaska can be very challenging. Being in good physical shape is important; we’ll hunt hard but take it slow and steady.
We’ve had 100% success rates on our moose hunts and we really enjoy guiding and hunting for big bulls. We will do our best to see that you have a safe and successful hunt.
