Hunting Mountain Goats with Alaska Big Game Safaris

Alaska Big Game Safaris is offering Mountain Goat hunts in the Misty Fiords National Monument in Southeast Alaska. These hunts will be conducted in conjunction with Ed Toribio and Primo Expeditions. We have been working with Ed since 1996 and have had many successful hunts together.

The area holds a healthy population of goats and genetics are pretty good for producing good horn growth. The focus being on Billies, we feel that it’s realistic for the hunter to have the chance at taking a trophy goat with 9 inch horns or better.

We’ll access the area by landing in remote high lakes via float plane or sometimes by boat heading up to goat country from saltwater. We’ll have comfortable tent base camps and run spike camps from there. Being in good physical condition and having top quality gear is of upmost importance.

The weather in Southeast Alaska can be very extreme with high winds and rain. Days like these are usually spent being “tentbound” waiting for the system to pass. When the weather breaks we’ll make our move and usually find the goats up and about feeding.

We truly enjoy pursuing these “Kings of the mountain”. Our job is to see that you have a safe, enjoyable hunting experience and we will focus on putting all of our efforts into seeing that you head home with a trophy goat and great memories.
