Hunting Brown Bears with
Alaska Big Game Safaris
The area that we guide for Brown Bears is on the Alaska Peninsula (GMA 9E). The State allows us only to hunt bears in the fall of odd-numbered years and spring of even-numbered years.
Although we’ve taken some nice bears during the spring hunts, we believe that your chances of success are much better in the fall. Bear numbers are higher due to the Salmon in the streams and berries in the areas of higher ground.
We access the area by light aircraft and sometimes a small skiff with an outboard motor.
Weather on the Peninsula can be very extreme with high winds and heavy rain or snow at times. We can’t stress enough how critical it is to have good gear.
Being in good physical condition upon your arrival is important. Hiking in the tundra and wetlands of the Alaska Peninsula can be very challenging. Hunting Bears involves a lot of glassing. We spot & stalk from vantage points. Depending on the situation it may require hiking several miles trying to intercept and set up for a shot.
We truly enjoy hunting and guiding for Brown Bears. We will do our best to make sure you have a safe, successful and enjoyable hunt. |
